Fukurou Patisserie

by - April 18, 2017

Fukurou Patisserie is a "must go" dessert place whenever we come to Auckland, seriously this hidden gem makes the best mille crepe cakes we have ever had - and we have had a lot of mille crepe cakes.

When Fukurou first opened it's doors about a year ago it was pretty much unknown to the world. However, when we returned a year later, it was packed with people queuing up to get a bite of their sweet little treats.

Durian Bomb NZ$7.90
If you like durian, then this is a must try.  A generous amount of real durian paste is evenly distributed between the cream and crepe layers, which gives the cake a beautiful creamy smooth durian flavour. Each crepe is cooked until golden brown and to a perfect thickness.

French Vanilla NZ$6.90
The French Vanilla was simple, but hard to resist.

We also got the coconut and matcha adzuki mille crepe cakes for takeaway. The coconut cake had a thick coconut jelly layer, which melts in your mouth. The matcha cake had a strong tea flavour to it, the bitterness balanced well with the sweetness of the cream.

Black Rose tea NZ$4.50
Our return visit did not let us down - we had very high expectations and were still impressed with the quality of ingredients used as well as the chef's techniques.

Fukurou means owl in Japanese
