Federal Delicatessen

by - April 20, 2017

Federal Delicatessen is a casual American style restaurant with a menu serving sliders to smoked meat. Be warned, this place does make you feel like a sardine in a tin when you are literally sitting next to your neighbours. Outdoor seats are available if you have children or dogs.

Look at the kitchen steaming away, the air was filled with scrumptious aroma.
The crowd can be a little intimidating, but the food is worth the visit.
Lox & Buckwheat Blini NZ$20

New Zealand is well known for it's salmon, and this dish is no exception. This dill cured salmon was fatty and oily, and was served with soft buckwheat blini and sour cream. A dish that is simple and yet delicious.
Toasted Reuben NZ$22
This is our second visit and we came back for the Reuben. We confirmed this is the best Reuben we ever had, it ticks all the boxes - crispy toasts, melty cheese, juicy and flavourful meat, it was like heaven. It couldn't get better than this!
Mussel & Pastrami Chowder NZ$24
Our friends got the chowder that was cooked using off-cuts from the house smoked pastrami, mussels and sweet potato.
NY Strip Steak NZ$27
The steak looked juicy and tender and was topped with dill butter and crispy chicken skin, with spinach salad on the side.
