This is our second visit to Nomad. The open kitchen design gives a view of the kitchen in full action while the floor is packed with dinning tables. The lighting invites intimate dialogues but you may find it a bit noisy.
Probably my favourite dish of the night, the scallops were cooked to golden brown while the inside was tender and juicy. It balanced well with the fennel nori slaw which was light and crunchy.
The empanada was filled with smokey brisket in the centre. We didn't end up using the hot sauce as we felt it wasn't needed. The sauce inside was already rich and sticky.
The calamari was fresh and al dente, I feel the black garlic sauce was overly sweet and I didn't end up eating it. The portion was quite small.
The prawns were decently large, you could tell they were nice and fresh prawns, and because the prawns were quite big in size, there were quite a bit of prawn butter in the head and it goes well with the creamy and silky saffron curry sauce.
I was just enjoying a fat and juicy prawn when I found a lovely long hair tangled in the prawn...To me it is even worse than finding a bone in a sashimi (at least the bone is the fish's), I lost half my apetite...😱
This dish is surely a hearty dish, a solid chunk of pork leg with a massive portion of roasted potatoes on the side. The skin was mostly crispy, some parts were kind of chewy. The meat itself was porky with a hint of smokiness. The romesco on the side was peppery and nutty.
The potatoes were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside while the inside was nice and fluffy. The potatoes were cooked in lard, they had a nice meaty flavour, and topped up with crispy pancetta. For some reason, I enjoyed the potatoes more over the actual pork.
